They buy and sell securities. It's been proven that a 'loan' is created from nothing when you sign the agreement. This is how the money supply is created. Banks do not act as intermediatary looking after you money. You lend the bank money when you open an account. There is no legal definition of a bank 'deposit'. Money in the form of a loan is never taken from one 'saver' and lent to a 'borrower' .
97% of 'money' is digital numbers on a screen. Only 3% cash is in actual circulation. This is why it is easy for banks to create most of the money supply…..
