As you know, so far in the previous articles, we have learned about the important features of the application layer (applications) and how they work. Now, in this post, we’ll try to understand some of the basic terms we use in our daily lives (and how they work). Basically, the internet world is different from the client se (website client se) and the server se. So let’s start by examining each term in detail.
World We Web (WWW)
We are already familiar with the surprising use of the www (or web for short) in our daily lives. The web is nothing more than a client-server program, where www is a standard framework for accessing various documents/information distributed across various hosts (machines) connected to the Internet. HTTP (discussed in detail in the next article) is a file protocol used to prove insight into the difference between the www. Web and the Internet the difference. The Web is a collection of standard protocols (instructions) sent and received over the Internet for accessing any information. The Internet is known as the “network of networks”. User (client) se implications of the web: To the average user (technically the “client”), the web is nothing more than a huge collection of documents and information. In order to access the information, the user must visit a specific “web page”. Links or References: Each of these websites may contain links to related websites on the Internet. The user can click on any link that ends up leading to another web page. Hypertext: Pages that link to other pages use hypertext. Browser: This is basically a client program used to view any web page on the Internet. The main task of the browser is to retrieve the page requested by the user, interpreting the text and formatting commands. Finally, the page will appear on the screen in the correct format. Hyperlink: This can be called a text string that links to other pages. They can be highlighted or underlined. Clicking on these links redirects the user to another website. Hypermedia: Some pages may also contain visible content consisting of audio tracks or videos, etc. When web pages contain audio or video tracks (or a mix of the two), they are called hypermedia. Some browsers usually get the text first and then load the image (because it takes longer). For any browser to work properly, the host (computer) must be connected to the Internet. In order to fetch any page, the browser must establish a TCP connection with the machine from which the page is to be fetched. The importance of the network from the server se Every website has a server process. It listens on TCP port 80 for connections to incoming clients (browser). After the connection is established, the client sends a request and the server sends a response to it. Then the connection is disconnected. The protocol used to outline requests and responses is called HTTP.
WWW architecture (brief overview)
WWW is a distributed client/server prover. Clients (end users) use browsers to access services through servers. However, the services proved are distributed in several different locations called websites. There are tons of websites, and each website contains many websites. These pages can be accessed and viewed by using a browser. A client sends a request through its browser to get a web report (document) from a specific site. The request includes the online address of the website (site) and the address of an Internet web page (called a URL) as well as some other information. The server on the requested website finds the document and sends it to the client.
Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
Clients accessing a website always need an address. HTTP uses URLs to facilitate access to any document distributed globally. A URL uses four items to specify all information on the Internet. They are as follows: method or protocol. host . port. small road. The exact format of each URL can be specified as follows: method://host:port/path Method is the protocol used, such as FTP, HTTP, which helps to retrieve the desired data. A host is simply a computer where the required information reses. The computer name starts with “www”, but this is not mandatory. The URL can optionally contain the port number of the server. If you want to include the port, it should be inserted between the host and the path, separated by a colon (as shown below). The path is the name of the file containing the information. The port and path fields are separated by slashes. Version: The latest version of HTTP is 1.1, but versions 0.9 and 1 are also used. An example URL is shown below (note that the port is not included). http://www.w4.org/hypertext/WWW/Project.html.
